Gudauri
Gudauri sits at about 2,200 m on the Georgian Military Highway, with lifts reaching above 3,000 m. The slopes are wide and above the tree line, and the resort is known for freeride and heli-skiing. It is the closer of the two to Tbilisi Airport: 2 to 2.5 hours by car.
Bakuriani
Bakuriani lies at about 1,700 m in a pine forest above the Borjomi gorge. It feels more like a town, with gentler slopes that suit beginners and families, and more to do off the slopes. The drive from Tbilisi Airport takes about 3 hours.
Which one suits you
- Strong skiers and freeriders: Gudauri.
- Beginners, families with small children: Bakuriani.
- Short trip with an early or late flight: Gudauri is closer to Tbilisi Airport.
- Ski plus sightseeing: Bakuriani, with Borjomi park on the way.
Can I visit both?
Yes. The two resorts are on different roads from Tbilisi, so the easiest plan is to stay a few days in one, return towards Tbilisi and continue to the other. We can drive the whole route in one booking.
